Chichén Itzá receives thousands of visitors a day. The difference is not whether you go, it is who you go with.
Juan Canul has been guiding Chichén Itzá for more than forty years. He has worked directly with archaeologists and researchers from universities around the world, and he knows the site with a depth that goes far beyond anything in a travel guide. With him, Chichén Itzá is not a tour: it is a conversation with Maya history.
We leave Valladolid at 8:00 AM in our private van, with your expert host in the region and its culture. We arrive at the site around 9:00 AM, before the large visitor flows that usually begin after 10:00 AM. The visit time is whatever you need. No rush, no group, no fixed itinerary.
On the way back, the day can continue with a stop at one of the cenotes near Chichén Itzá or at a traditional Yucatecan restaurant along the route. Return to Valladolid around 3:00 PM.
Want an even more complete day? Combine the visit with Izamal, Yucatan’s Magical Town, a city literally built over a Maya city and painted entirely yellow. There you will find Kinich restaurant, an essential reference for Yucatecan cuisine, the Kinich KakMo pyramid, the second-largest platform in the pre-Hispanic world, and the imposing San Antonio de Padua Convent with its monumental atrium. An afternoon that perfectly complements the morning at Chichén Itzá.
