Ek Balam. The Kingdom of the Sublime Maya

Ek Balam is not Chichén Itzá. It does not have its crowds or its immediate fame, and precisely because of that, those who visit often say it was the greatest surprise of their trip through Yucatan.

The Acropolis rises there, a monumental building that can still be climbed to the top. From above, a 360-degree view over the Yucatecan jungle stretches as far as the eye can see. A moment you do not forget.

What makes Ek Balam truly unique is the tomb of King Ukit Kan Le'k Tok': the Earth Monster frieze and the figures guarding the entrance to the royal tomb are works of unmatched artistic value, perfectly preserved. A civilization that did not only build in stone, but sculpted it with mastery that still amazes archaeologists.

The visit is guided by Juan Canul in Spanish and English, a specialist with more than forty years of experience and collaborator with international researchers, or by Aurelio Hau in French, a local Ek Balam guide with deep and personal knowledge of the site and its history.

We leave Valladolid at 8:00 AM. The visit to Ek Balam runs approximately from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. The rest of the day can continue with one or two cenotes in the region and lunch at a traditional restaurant in a nearby town. A full day, at your pace.
